Algerian star Riyad Mahrez has revealed that Manchester City will not be resting on their laurels come the 2022/23 campaign and will look to claim their fifth league title in six seasons.
Mahrez, who has grown into becoming one of Pep Guardiola’s most important players, recently said that his side will have the same hunger for success going into the new season while also mentioning that Manchester feels like home.
The former Leicester City winger committed his immediate future to the club, having signed a new two-year contract earlier this month on the back of a stellar 21/22 campaign.
Now though, Mahrez said that City are ‘100%’ in for silverware this coming season and that he is happy to be a citizen.
“We really, really want to win again, Mahrez said, according to the Daily Mail.
‘When the season starts, we want to go again. That’s the big motivation. We never ever think, “oh, it’s going to be easy this year,” or we can go a bit easy.
“No, we go 100 per cent from the beginning, because we want to win and we are built with this mentality.
“Of course Manchester feels like home,’ Mahrez said. ‘It’s difficult saying this, because I’m from a completely different area, from Paris, which is so different to Manchester, but yeah, my family is here, it’s like a 50-50 home. I’m very happy to stay here, I love the club and that’s where I feel the best here.”
