Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has given insights on Benni McCarthy’s appointment as the club’s new striker’s coach, speaking highly of the former UEFA Champions League winner.
The dust is yet to settle after it was confirmed that the South African made the giant leap in joining one of the biggest clubs in the world, forming part of a new look United technical team.
Ten Hag, who made the choice in bringing the South African to Carrington, revealed that his experience as a ‘successful’ striker will provide a different voice to the team.
“There was still one place in our coaching staff that I wanted to fill,” he told MUTV, as per Soccer Laduma.
“Someone with a different voice and Benni is that one.
“He has experience as a manager. He was a coach in the professional level and he was a former striker, a really successful striker as well.”
The Dutchman added that McCarthy will help the team’s attacking organisation.
“He will focus on the positioning and attacking,” he added.
“I’m not saying only the strikers, but also the integration from the fullbacks and midfielders. Our way of play has to be dynamic.”
