The agent of Senegalese forward Bamba Dieng has emphasised the player’s desire to remain with Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille.

The 22-year-old, who is under contract at the club until the end of the 2023-24 season, is reportedly being pushed toward the exit door by OM hierarchy.

New manager Igor Tudor has intimated that Arkadiusz Milik, Luis Suárez, Cédric Bakambu, and even Dimitri Payet, who can play as a second striker, are ahead of Dieng in the pecking order.

However, his agent Seydou Bocar Seck is adamant that the Teranga Lions player will stay until explicitly told by Marseille that he has no future at the Stade Velodrome.

“For his part, his decision is made. He wants to stay. OM is his club. He intends to give back to the fans all the positive energy he receives through good performances on the pitch,” Seck told La Provence, as quoted by Afrik-Foot.

“His position is that of listening, he expects communication from the club. If the player is not good enough, as his new status in the hierarchy indicates according to the coach, we wait for them to call and say clearly: ‘Listen, we judge that it is not enough for us, please find another thing.’ From then on, we would know what we had to do.”

Seck added, “The summer preparation is over. OM’s record is five goals scored. He took three. With reduced playing time, he still ends up top scorer.

“He is frustrated but he is also positively touched by the messages of support he receives. A lot of people do not understand the treatment reserved for him.

“This confirms his choice and the path he has decided to take, which is to stay at the club, constantly improve his performance, and make the people of Marseille proud and happy.”
