Jorginho: Koulibaly’s presence great on and off the pitch

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says Kalidou Koulibaly will have a major influence both on and off the pitch for the Premier League club.

The 31-year-old Senegalse player joined the Blues last month from Napoli, on a four-year contract for a reported £33 million transfer fee.

Koulibaly and Jorginho were teammates at Napoli and the Brazilian is happy to re-unite with the Teranga Lions centre-back in London.

“We hope to play together another four seasons (laughs),” Jorginho told Sky Sports, as quoted by Tribal Football.

“I think it was a very positive signing for the club, because he is not only a strong player who will help us a lot on the pitch, but I believe that he will help a lot in the locker room, considering the person he is.

“He is an exceptional guy. During the negotiations for his move I called him urging him to come. And I am very happy that it happened.”

Koulibaly and Jorginho will both hope to feature for Chelsea when they open their 2022-23 Premier League campaign with a clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday 6 August.
