Orlando Pirates got their DStv Premiership campaign off to a winning start on Saturday afternoon, while rivals Kaizer Chiefs succumbed to a defeat at the hands of Royal AM at the Chatsworth stadium.
The Buccaneers managed to claim their first three points of the league season, as they fought off Swallows FC at the Orlando Stadium.
Pirates, under the guidance of new coach Jose Riveiro, played free flowing attacking football for most of the encounter. New acquisition Bienvenu Eva Nga opened his account for the Sea Robbers, with his effort in the 10 minutes being the only goal of the game.
In carrying on from their spectacular debut season in the DStv Premiership , Royal AM defeated Chiefs at the Chatsworth. Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Ricardo Nascimento opened the scoring in the first minute of the game.
While Chiefs saw the majority of the ball throughout the encounter, it was the Brazilian’s effort early on that was enough for Royal AM to secure maximum points.
Also, Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC played to a 0-0 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, in what was an even affair throughout the encounter. The two sides shared the shots at goal statistic (11) and pass accuracy numbers (86%), while the possession count proved to be around the 50/50 mark throughout the 90 minutes.
