Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers is ready to embark on a new chapter in his career after joining Serie A newcomers Cremonese from Genk.
The 27-year-old forward enjoyed a productive loan spell with Feyenoord last season, scoring 10 goals in the Europa Conference League to help them reach the final.
Dessers added another nine goals in the Eredivisie before returning to his parent club after the Rotterdam outfit decided against making his loan deal permanent in June.
The Grigiorossi fought off competition from other suitors to acquire the services of the Belgium-born hitman, who saw his stock rise as a result of his exploits on the European stage.
Dessers is looking forward to testing himself in one of the strongest leagues on the planet, although he is under no illusions as to the challenges that lie ahead.
“I feel like a child unwrapping his Christmas gift by joining one of the most illustrious leagues in the world,” he said after signing for the Lombardy outfit.
“It is going to be a difficult challenge full of obstacles, but I am ready to defend the colours of Cremonese. I’m looking forward to living a childhood dream in a new environment and doing all I can to help the team in the battles ahead.”
