After Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their first defeat of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, co-coach Rulani Mokwena bemoaned his side’s performance and highlighted the Brazilians lack of hunger and aggression as a problem.
The reigning league champions welcomed TS Galaxy to Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening as the visitors came away with all three points in a surprise 1-0 victory.
Downs went into the tie on the back of a 2-0 win over Cape Town City, as it appeared that the Tshwane club meant business yet again. However, after the defeat to Galaxy, Mokwena mentioned that his side were under prepared and that they lacked ‘hunger’.
“There’s no time in football,” Mokwena told SuperSport after the game.
“You’ve got to win matches, we’re in a sport of winning matches, as coaches our jobs is to win matches.
“The performance today was not good, we had too many players that were struggling with the touch, the intensity of the game and that’s our responsibility to make sure the team is prepared.
“So when the team is not prepared, we don’t have enough hunger, we don’t have enough aggression.
“Then we have to look at our preparation and try to be better prepared because there’s a big game on Saturday.”
