With Ricardo Soares struggling to impress with Al Ahly, the Egyptian giants have reportedly identified an international coach as their next mentor.
Soares had big boots to fill following coach Pitso Mosimane’s exit from the club in May, given the South African’s trophy laden spell in Egypt.
Now with high standards to maintain, an inconsistent showing in the Egyptian Premier League this season is said to have prompted the club’s hierarchy to assess their options regarding a replacement for Soares.
According to Le360, as per KingFut, former Morocco head coach Vahid Halilhodzic has been identified by the club to become their new mentor.
The Bosnian was in charge of the Moroccan national team for three years, where his record stood at 30 games, 20 wins, seven draws and three losses. With the keenly anticipated 2022 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Halilhodzic was relieved of his duties earlier this month.
It’s been reported that Halilhodzic already received an offer from Al Ahly for the post and that the club is ‘unhappy’ with Soares’ showings in the league.
