It’s been reported that two Premier League giants are now in the hunt to sign Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, with both clubs keen on adding to their attacking department for the 2022/23 season.
It is believed that following the signing of Robert Lewandowski, the Gabonese attacker could play second fiddle to the former Bayern Munich star.
With Barcelona looking to revamp their squad, Xavi Hernandez is said to be open to the idea of selling the ex-Arsenal fan favourite.
Now though, according to The Sun, Manchester United and Chelsea are in a tussle to land the African star. The Red Devils are looking to add a forward to their squad for this season, having been linked with Benjamin Sesko and Marko Arnautovic in the current window.
The same report suggests that United were considering a move for Aubameyang in January, after he left the Gunners for the Catalan giants.
Now though, it’s said that Chelsea are also keeping tabs on his situation and could look to the 33-year-old in filling the gap left by Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.
The Sun also reports that Auba’s wages are supposed to ‘rise considerably’ this season, which could be one of the reasons why Barcelona would want to offload the star, given their financial problems.
