It’s been reported that Senegal star Ismaila Sarr’s £25 million move to the Premier League has ‘collapsed’ despite Watford & Aston Villa agreeing a fee this past weekend.
According to Sky Sports, the English sides agreed a transfer fee for the highly rated 24-year-old on Saturday and was scheduled to have a medical on Monday.
Now though, it’s been reported that the Villa bosses had ‘growing reservations’ about the deal and walked away from negotiations.
It’s said that problems emerged during talks about the extra details of the move, which included the possibility of Cameron Archer and Kortney Hause heading to Watford on loan.
As per Football Insider, it’s believed that Sarr could not agree personal terms and that Steven Gerrard had ’second thoughts’ about the African star.
The same report suggests that the Liverpool legend now wants to strengthen his squad elsewhere and that alternative targets have been identified.
Sarr featured 95 times for the Hornets since making the move from Rennes in 2019 and has scored 25 goals during this time. The former Ligue 1 star is somewhat of a fan favourite at the club and has been linked with a number of big money moves in the last couple of seasons.
