Following Kaizer Chiefs’ their third loss of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign on Tuesday night, coach Arthur Zwane explained where it went wrong for his team despite anticipating understanding their game plan.

Amakhosi travelled to the Cape Town Stadium in their most recent league encounter and in the process, succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Cape Town City.

An early goal by Darwin Gonzalez followed by Nathan Fasika’s towering header just after the hour mark meant that the Glamour Boys left the Mother City empty handed as they continued their campaign on an inconsistent note.

In the post match interview, Zwane mentioned that the Glamour Boys anticipated the Citizen’s approach while failing to execute their game plan.

“We obviously started very slow, very sloppy at the back,” Zwane said after the game.

“We actually planned for this, the only thing that we didn’t do right was to execute the plan.

“We knew that they would want to drop the ball behind that is why we came with three defenders so we can close those spaces with the wing-backs.

“So they can confront their full-backs when they come but we sat at the back and we were on the straight line and we allowed them about four of those.

“Before they got the goal we had sort of a warning and still the guys couldn’t read it you know and we conceded too early in the game and once you concede too early, now you’re unsettled, you’re chasing the game.”
