The most recent round of DStv Premiership matches saw Kaizer Chiefs suffer defeat, while rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns recorded maximum points.

Amakhosi travelled to the Mother City on Tuesday evening but left empty handed as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against Cape Town City. In exploiting the Soweto giants defensive frailties, goals by Darwin Gonzalez and Nathan Fasika was enough for Eric Tinkler’s side to gain maximum points.

At the Dobsonville Stadium, Swallows FC showcased their resilience in a 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United. Victor Letsoalo gave Babina Noko the lead in the 27th minute, however, the Dube Birds drew level just before the break before getting ahead on the scoresheet 10 minutes from time.

Kicking off Wednesday’s list of fixtures, Mamelodi Sundowns hosted Stellenbosch FC at Loftus Versfeld. The reigning league champions put on a dominating display and showcased their class in a 3-0 home win.

Also, Chilean attacker Marcelo Allende made his debut for the Brazilians and in turn, scored in his first outing in South African football.

In Durban, Royal AM recorded a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United at the Chatsworth Stadium. Thwihli Thwahla made amends to their frustrating 2-2 stalemate against Marumo Gallants in their previous fixture by claiming their third win in the league so far.

Also, Orlando Pirates saw themselves go top of the log this week, after their hard fought 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at the Orlando Stadium. The Buccaneers played one more game than 2nd and 3rd placed Sundowns & AmaZulu, who trail the Soweto giants with the solitary point.

In two fixtures played in Durban, Golden Arrows came away with a 1-0 win over Usuthu at the Princess Magogo Stadium, while SuperSport United claimed all three points in a 1-0 victory against Richards Bay FC.

Elsewhere, Chippa United and TS Galaxy recorded a 0-0 stalemate at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium with it being the only tie that produced no goals in the DStv Premiership this week.
