Al Ahly coach Ricardo Soares has given insights to his club’s progress season, while refusing to answer certain questions posed to him by journalists.
Following a recent 2-0 win over ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League, the Portuguese coach refused to take questions from journalists amid pressure surrounding his immediate future.
Al Ahly went into the tie against ENPPI on the back of two goalless draws, a run of results that personified the club’s inconsistent season. It was widely reported that Soares could be on his way out of the club and that the Ahly hierarchy have been left unimpressed by his showings.
In his stance of not answering questions from journalists, Soares made a statement where he explained the club’s current season.
“I apologise for not wanting to answer any questions at the moment. I respect your work but I will not answer questions today,” Soares said, according to Kingfut.
“We played a game every three days and almost every senior player is not here with us because of many injuries, and we have a number of young players to prepare for the future.
“The club officials made it clear before that there were refereeing errors that affected us and our progress this season.
“I don’t want to make excuses, but in normal circumstances, Al Ahly can win everything next season. Good night.”
