New Mamelodi Sundowns recruit Marcelo Allende became a hot topic among supporters on social media following his debut for the Brazilians, however, co-coach Rulani Mokwena has reiterated the need to be patient with the 23-year-old.

Downs recorded a dominant 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in their most recent DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening. Shortly after unveiling the Chilean as their latest recruit, Allende was included in the squad to face the Western Cape outfit.

Scoring on debut, Mokwena mentioned that Sundowns are far off from what they want to achieve and that Allende has much to do in adapting to life at Chloorkop.

“You know we’re still very far off from what we can do, very far off and we can still do more,” Mokwena said after the game.

“You can talk about how good Rushine today, how good was Brian Onyango today, how good was Andile Jali today, Neo again also very good tactically.

“Peter Shalulile works his socks off for the team like always, you can talk about a complete team performance but it’s good to see Marcelo, let’s be patient with him.

“He still has a lot to do, to adapt to the club but we know what he can do, the club has worked very hard to bring him on board and congratulations to the management for a very good recruitment.”
