Despite it being reported that Manchester United could include Cristiano Ronaldo in a swap deal to bring Victor Osimhen to Old Trafford, it’s believed that the English clubs are eyeing the African star regardless.
It has been widely publicised that United are looking to add a striker to their attacking department, with Osimhen’s name on Erik Ten Hag’s list of targets. The 23-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s rising talents and currently plies his trade with Napoli in the Italian Serie A.
Last week, it was reported that Ronaldo’s agent was working on a deal that could see the 38-year-old head to Napoli, with the Nigerian going in the opposite direction.
CR7’s immediate future is a massive talking point in the game currently with it said that he could be seeking a move away from Carrington. Also, Anthony Martial sustained an Achilles injury recently, leaving Ten Hag short of options up front.
Now though, it has emerged that United could sign Osimhen regardless of Ronaldo’s future and that the club see him as a top target for Ten Hag’s long-term rebuild.
According to the Express and Sky Sports, the Red Devils could look to sign Osimhen on the ’11th hour’ as United increase their business dealings in the current transfer window. The English club recently added Casimiro to their roster, while fellow Brazilian, Antony, is expected to be announced this week.
