With Al Ahly star Walid Soliman set to retire from football, former Red Devils coach Pitso Mosimane expressed heartfelt words to the 37-year-old and mentioned that he played the game with ‘integrity and respect’ for the club badge.
Solimane called time on his playing career after Al Ahly’s 4-0 Egyptian Premier League game against Ceramica Cleopatra. It’s been reported that Soliman will be offered a position within the club and recently received a glowing reception from former mentor, coach Pitso.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach spoke of the respect he has for Soliman, while wishing him well on his future plans.
“Legend, I have never started you on any game and yet you scored so many games for me,” Mosimane tweeted.
“That’s the respect you gave me and the team. You remained the same man of honour even during tough times.
“Good luck in your future endeavours. Al Ahly has a future in you.
“I remember how sad you were when injuries made you miss last year’s FIFA World Cup but I was happy that you played in this year’s World Cup, and you played all those games like a 19-year-old player.”
“Thanks @Walid11Soliman, We really gave each other respect and I am happy that we had a very genuine relationship. Even when I played you for 5 minutes in a game. You played with integrity and respect for the Al Ahly badge.”
