SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns will renew hostilities for the pick of matches in a full round of action in South Africa’s DStv Premiership this weekend.

Matsatsantsa will host the Brazilians at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday evening, looking to avenge a defeat at the hands of their neighbours in an MTN8 quarterfinal clash last weekend.

‘Downs co-coach Rulani Mokwena believes a second clash against SuperSport in the space of five days will be a major hurdle for his team to overcome.

“Same opponents and normally with those games, the second one is harder, especially for the team that won the first one,” he explained. “So, we’ve got to get into that space where we try to help them mentally to get over that result because it will be a different ball game.”

The pick of Saturday’s matches sees Kaizer Chiefs welcome AmaZulu to FNB Stadium for a late afternoon kick-off, with the teams having been paired in the semifinals of the MTN8 after they overcame Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town City respectively.

“We are playing against AmaZulu, we all know it’s not going to be an easy one,” said Amakhosi coach Arthur Zwane. “They’re doing well at the moment, they have been winning their league games and are through to the semifinal.”

Saturday also features Golden Arrows and Stellenbosch FC playing host to Chippa United and Richards Bay respectively, a grudge match between Sekhukhune United and Royal AM (with their ‘beef’ dating back to the promotion legal wrangle at the end of the 2020-21 season), as well as TS Galaxy and Cape Town City meeting at Mbombela Stadium.

Sunday sees bottom-of-the-log Marumo Gallants chase a first win of the season when they welcome Swallows FC to the Peter Mokaba Stadium, before Orlando Pirates will have their upturn in form under coach Jose Riveiro tested by Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
