Egyptian Premier League side National Bank of Egypt have bolstered their goalkeeping department for next season with the signing of Mohamed ‘Gabaski’ Abou-Gabal.
The Cairo outfit are preparing for their third consecutive campaign in the top flight after gaining promotion for the first time in their history in 2020.
Under the guidance of Khaled Galal, the club finished seventh last term, which was a major improvement on the 14th place they achieved in their debut season.
Galal’s side had ended the 2021/22 campaign with a minus-one goal difference after shipping 41 goals in 34 games and they decided to add more competition between the sticks.
Gabaski has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at National Bank of Egypt Stadium following his release by league rivals Zamalek.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper brings with him valuable CAF Champions League and international experience, having helped Egypt reached the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year.
He becomes the second new addition to the squad following the recent arrival of midfielder Ahmed Tawfik from Pyramids.
