Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has said that Mohamed Salah has not been the same since the Red’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford last month, especially after having a tussle with Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez.
With two goals in six matches for Liverpool this season, Salah struggled to hit the ground running in the 2022/23 Premier League season. The Egyptian last scored in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford as Souness claimed that a coming together with Martinez may have affected his form.
Souness also explained that he hopes Salah is not becoming complacent after he recently signed a bumper contract with the English giants.
“I’m looking at Salah for Liverpool against Man united and in the first five minutes, Martinez goes right through him,” Souness said according to the Manchester Evening news.
“The rest of the game, Mo Salah looked for Martinez and looked where he was.
“I’ve not seen the same Mo Salah since. I just hope, and he’s signed the big contract he wanted, but at this level if you knock off half a per cent, one per cent, then you are not the same player.
“I hope this is not him getting semi into his armchair because he signed a big contract.
“I’m saying that as a Liverpool supporter, hopefully to make him angry and prove me wrong.”
