New Al Ahly signing Bruno Savio is aiming to take the Egyptian Premier League by storm as he looks to fire them back to the domestic title.
The 28-year-old forward joined the Red Eagles on a three-year contract from Bolivian champions Club Bolivar last week and has described it as the biggest move of his career.
Savio attracted interest from the Cairo giants after registering 16 goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for La Academia last season.
The Brazilian admitted their offer was too good to refuse, having seen the team perform so well at the FIFA Club World Cup under former head coach Pitso Mosimane.
“I am proud to be here,” he told the club’s official website. “Al Ahly is the best team in Africa, and I know how big the club is and their expectations.
“I will do my best to be part of the starting line-up in all competitions and contribute to the team so that we can win trophies. I hope to be the best player in the Egyptian league.
“When I received the offer from Al Ahly, I couldn’t turn it down, because it is certainly a very big move in my career.
“I watched Ahly several times at the FIFA Club World Cup. It is a dream for any player to play in a such world competition and I also hope to play in the CAF Champions League.”
