Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry have announced the signing of Franck Mbella Etouga from Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko on a three-year contract.
The 20-year-old striker had only joined the Porcupine Warriors in October 2021, but enjoyed a stellar debut season in the Ghana Premier League.
Etouga scored 21 goals in 30 league appearances to help his team win their first title in six years and he just missed out on the Golden Boot to Yaw Annor, who finished with 22 goals.
The Cameroonian had been linked with a move away from the Baba Yara Stadium and although the Kumasi giants expressed their hopes to retain his services, they have finally relented.
The Green Eagles confirmed his arrival on Sunday as they look to improve on last season when they finished 13th in the standings, having battled relegation for much of the time.
“The Egyptian Club Board of Directors, headed by Professor Kamel Abu Ali, have completed the signing of Cameroonian international striker Franck Mbella Etouga, the head of Ghana’s Ashanti Kotoko, on a three-season contract, starting from the new season 2022/2023 to the end of the 2024/2025 season,” the club said in a statement.
