Nigeria’s preparations for their clash with Algeria have suffered another setback after Ahmed Musa was forced with withdraw from the squad due to injury.
The 29-year-old winger was included in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad for the friendly in Oran on September 27, although the head coach has already had to amend that list.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq were unavailable for selection after picking up injuries earlier this month, while QPR defender Leon Balogun and Adana Demirspor winger Henry Onyekuru needed to be replaced for similar reasons.
Musa has added to the Super Eagles’ woes after sustaining an injury to his arm in Sivasspor’s 2-1 defeat to Ankaragucu in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
The national team captain lasted just 19 minutes before being substituted and subsequently underwent scans on Monday, which revealed a fracture.
“In the match of the seventh week of the Super Lig against Ankaragucu, our player was injured in the 19th minute. Ahmed Musa was checked and was found to have a fracture in his left arm. The treatment process of our player has started immediately,” the club said in a statement.
