Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has opened up on the club’s recent managerial change, while also speaking about his current injury status.

Auba, as he is simply known, joined the London-based club on transfer deadline day but has since had a slow start to life with the Blues. The attacker became a fan favourite during his time with Chelsea rivals, Arsenal, with his transfer causing a stir among Gunner’s fans.

Upon his return to England, Aubameyang mentioned that he was excited at the prospect of reuniting with Thomas Tuchel, however, the German mentor was replaced with Graham Potter following a string of below par performances.

The former Borussia Dortmund star described Potter as a positive figure around the club and that while he was sad at Tuchel leaving, it’s now a case of adapting to his surroundings.

“He’s a really positive person,” Aubameyang said according to the Chelsea official website.

“He’s a great character. We will try to learn with him, and to win as soon as possible. It’s going to be easy to adapt. His ideas are very clear.

“It’s been some strange weeks for all of us I think, not only me. That’s part of life. Everyone knows the relationship I had with Thomas.

“It’s said when somebody leaves a club but this is football. You have to adapt quickly at different moments in a season.

Speaking on the injuries he sustained during an unfortunate house breaking incident earlier this season, Aubameyang mentioned that he will need time to get back to his best again.

“I need more time,” Auba added.

“I’m not 100 per cent fit. It’s not easy to play with a mask and with an injury, but hopefully I will get 100 per cent as soon as possible.”
