Nigeria have been dealt another blow ahead of their friendly against Algeria following the news that Wilfred Ndidi has withdrawn from the squad through injury.
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has already lost captain Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun, Henry Onyekuru, Samuel Chukwueze and Emmanuel Dennis since naming his 24-man squad on September 17.
In addition, Peseiro was unable to call on Victor Osimhen and Umar Sadiq after the duo sustained injuries while playing for their respective clubs earlier this month.
Ndidi became the latest casualty when he picked up a knock during training at their camp in Constantine, Algeria on Thursday.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that the Leicester midfielder has returned to England for treatment and will play no part in the clash with the Fennec Foxes in Oran on September 27.
“Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is injured and out of the game against Algeria. He has left the team’s camp and returned to England. Get well soon Wilfred,” the NFF said in a statement on Twitter.
