New Al Ahly forward Bruno Savio has revealed his ambitions after joining the biggest football club on the African continent.
The Brazilian player, who recently joined the Egyptian powerhouse from Club Bolivar of Bolivia, is eager to win the CAF Champions League title with his new club as he eyes appearing in the FIFA Club World Cup.
“My target is to win the CAF Champions League title with Ahly to participate in the Club World Cup,” Savio said on Ahram Online.
“The Egyptian Premier League is a tough competition. There are big teams fighting for the title, so I know our mission in the new season will be difficult.”
Al Ahly finished third in the last two Club World Cup finals under the guidance of South African tactician Pitso Mosimane and they now have a new coach in Swiss mentor Marcel Koller.
“I watched Ahly several times at the FIFA Club World Cup,” the 28-year-old, who signed a three-year deal with the Red Eagles, continued.
“It is a dream for any player to play in such a world competition, and I also hope to play in the CAF Champions League.”
Al Ahly, who have won a record 10 CAF Champions League titles, will take on Tunisian side Monastir in a second-round tie next month.
