Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak are in the market for a new head coach after parting ways with Samuel Boadu on Tuesday.
Boadu has paid the price for a disappointing start to the 2022/23 season, which saw his team pick up just two points from their opening three games.
The Phobians kicked off proceedings with a 1-0 defeat away to Aduana Stars before recording back-to-back 1-1 draws against Great Olympics and defending champions Asante Kotoko.
The Accra outfit are looking to wrestle the title back from the Porcupine Warriors and the board decided to act early in an attempt to reinvigorate the club.
Boadu was handed the reins in March 2021 and went on to guide his side to the domestic double, while he won the MTN FA Cup again last term.
The 36-year-old departs the Accra Sports Stadium with Hearts of Oak sitting 14th in the standings, five points adrift of leaders Berekum Chelsea.
“Accra Hearts of Oak Plc has decided to part ways with the entire technical team of the senior team led by coach Samuel Boadu with immediate effect,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“The club is of the opinion that there is the need for a new direction and the energy to ensure its broader objectives are achieved and it feels the time for that new direction is now.
“The board and management would like to thank Samuel Boadu and his assistants for their contribution to our history and the memories – which will always remain with us. The club will like to wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
Former Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is reportedly being lined up to replace Boadu.
Ogum is currently unemployed after vacating his post at the Baba Yara Stadium just a few weeks after winning the league in his first season at the helm.
