Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids have finally addressed the speculation linking star winger Ibrahim Adel with a move to English giants Liverpool.
The Egypt international played a pivotal role for the Cairo outfit last season as they finished runners-up to champions Zamalek, contributing six goals and four assists in 21 league appearances.
Adel was the subject of a €2 million bid from Danish Superliga leaders Nordsjaelland during the summer transfer window, which was rejected by Pyramids as it didn’t match their evaluation.
Rumours subsequently emerged that the Reds had expressed an interest in the 21-year-old, with compatriot Mohamed Salah said to have played a part in the pursuit.
However, Pyramids director of football Mahmoud Fathallah has downplayed the reports, insisting there was no official contact with the Merseysiders.
“Ibrahim Adel is a huge talent for us and for Egyptian football,” Fathallah said. “The rumours regarding the Liverpool interest in him is good, but there is nothing official happened related to the matter.”
Adel recently pledged his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract through to June 2026.
