Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura coach Moufdi Cherdoud believes his side is well placed to advance in the CAF Confederation Cup despite their defeat at the hands of Sporting Club de Gagnoa this past weekend.

The Ivorian hosts got the better of JSS 1-0 in a CAFCC second preliminary round, first-leg match at the Yamoussoukro Municipal Stadium on Saturday, with Marc Goua’s early penalty proving decisive.

However, Cherdoud believes his side will have what it takes to turn the tie around when they host the second leg at 20 August 1955 Stadium in Bechar on October 15.

“The result is to our advantage,” he is quoted by Africa Foot United. “We have just finished the first [leg] in Ivory Coast, the second [leg] will be in Algeria and we will do better.”

The Saoura coach added, “My players started the match ideally but the penalty changed a lot of things in their way of playing.”

The aggregate winners of the tie will advance into the playoff round of the CAFCC in November, where they will come up against a losing team from the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
