Two of the three DStv Premiership games on Tuesday brought victory for the away teams as SuperSport United moved to the summit and Orlando Pirates leapfrogged Kaizer Chiefs into fourth place.
Chippa United continued their march up the table with a 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United at the Chatsworth Stadium, where Etiosa Ighodaro’s 27th-minute goal proved the difference.
The Chilli Boys registered their fourth consecutive victory in the league to climb up to sixth position, three points behind the league leaders, while Babina Noko remain in 13th place following back-to-back defeats.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United made it three wins on the spin as they beat Stellenbosch 2-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium to knock Mamelodi Sundowns off top spot.
Jamie Webber gave Matsatsantsa the lead 10 minutes before half-time and Bradley Grobler added a second on 67 minutes to seal all three points and inflict a second defeat in three games on the Maroons, who dropped to seventh.
In the late kick-off, Pirates halted a four-match winless run with a 2-0 triumph over Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Monnapule Saleng, who spent last season on loan at Soweto rivals Swallows, got off the mark for the Buccaneers with a first-half brace (6, 24) to ensure a fifth victory of the season for hand Jose Riveiro’s side, with Abafana Bes’thende unmoved in eighth position after going three games without a win.
