Nigerian star Victor Osimhen insists he is “hungry for more” after netting the first hat-trick of his club career in Napoli’s 4-0 victory over Sassuolo on Saturday.

The 23-year-old striker joined an elite club as he became the fifth African to register a three-goal haul in Serie A after George Weah, Patrick Mboma, Mohamed Salah and Keita Balde.

Osimhen has now scored 31 goals in Italy’s top flight, making him Nigeria’s most prolific marksman over there, having surpassed Obafemi Martins’ tally of 28 for Inter Milan.

The Super Eagles ace also leads the scoring charts in the league with seven goals and he’s thrilled with his achievements this season after overcoming a knee injury, which kept him on the sidelines for a month.

“That was my first professional hat-trick so I’m really excited about it,” Osimhen told BBC Sport Africa.

“It’s been a great return after a few challenges at the start of the season and hopefully I can continue this form. As a striker, you always want to help your team so I want to stay hungry for more.”
