Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah hopes Liverpool FC’s win over Tottenham Hotspur turns out to be the team’s turning point.
The left-footed winger grabbed a first-half brace to inspire the Reds to a 2-1 win over Spurs in an English Premier League encounter on Sunday.
The win saw Liverpool return to winning ways in the league having lost two successive matches in the competition prior to facing Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
When asked whether the win can be a turning point for the Reds, Salah said, “Hopefully. Before, we didn’t want to lose but that’s football and we have to accept it.
“We managed to strike back a few times in the season; we played very good games, like against [Manchester] City and against Napoli.
“Now, hopefully that gives us more confidence. We’ll just try to carry on and win games.”
The brace improved the two-time Caf African Footballer of the Year’s scoring record against Spurs to eight in 12 appearances for the Reds in all competitions.
Liverpool will now face Derby County in a Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday with Salah having now scored 14 goals from 20 matches this season.
