Nigeria will be without Victor Osimhen when they go head to head with former European champions Portugal on Thursday.
The 23-year-old striker was among the players called up by Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro ahead of the international friendly game against Portugal.
However, Osimhen will miss the game which will take place in Lisbon having picked up a knock in SSC Napoli’s 3-2 win against Udinese in Saturday’s Italian Serie A match.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) also confirmed that Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah is also out of the squad.
Peseiro has picked Chidozie Awaziem and Cyriel Dessers as the replacements for the abovementioned duo.
“Update Portugal versus Nigeria friendly: Chidozie Awaziem replaces injured Olisa Ndah, while Cyriel Dessers replaces injured Victor Osimhen,” NFF tweeted.
Osimhen is one of the Super Eagles’ key players having scored 15 goals from 22 international matches for the Western African giants.
The former Lille OSC star will be hoping to be fit and available when Nigeria take on Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in March next year.
