Tunisia vice-captain Wahbi Khazri believes they have the quality to reach the knockout phase of the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals.
The Carthage Eagles will be making their sixth appearance in the global tournament and they are in Group D alongside France, Denmark and Australia.
Khazri, who is on the books of French Ligue 1 side Montpellier, made it known that Tunisia will strive to leave a mark in Qatar.
“I believe we can make it out. We have a well-oiled team that has been together for a long time,” Khazri told BBC Sport Africa. https://www.bbc.com/sport/africa/63514674
“France are superior to us and are competing for the title, Denmark is a good team and Australia is as well.
Tunisia have never reached the knockout phase of the World Cup and Khazri is determined to change this with his teammates.
“I think we have a chance to play in the next round and we will have to be efficient in the first two games,” the attacking midfielder-come-forward continued.
“Before the last World Cup in Russia, we delivered solid performances against Spain and Portugal, then beat Croatia a year after they finished as runners-up.
“We are able to perform against big teams. It will be a dream fulfilled to reach the second round.”
The 31-year-old has scored 24 goals from 71 international matches for Tunisia who will face Denmark in their first Group D game on Tuesday.
