French defender Axel Disasi has made it known that he has no regrets after his collision with Morocco midfielder Amine Harit.
The collision ended Harit’s dream of playing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar as the Morocco international suffered a serious knee injury after colliding with Disasi.
Harit had to be substituted in the 62nd minute, but his team, Olympique Marseille went on to claim a 3-2 win over AS Monaco in a French Ligue 1 encounter on Sunday.
Disasi, who is of DR Congolese descent, has since been handed a late call up to the France squad following the late withdrawal of the injured Presnel Kimpembe.
“I don’t feel any guilt,” said Disasi as quoted by Marca. “This is not dancing. It’s football and it’s a contact sport.”
Harit has been replaced by Burnley FC winger Anass Zaroury in the Morocco squad ahead of the World Cup which starts this weekend.
Morocco are in Group F where they are scheduled to face Zaroury’s country of birth, Belgium, Canada, and Croatia.
The Atlas Lions will face off with Croatia in their first game on Wednesday at the Al Bayt Stadium.
