Prior to the 2022/23 season, Mohamed Salah extended his stay with Liverpool, signing a bumper deal that would keep him at Anfield until 2025. Now though, details regarding his new contract have reportedly been revealed.
With murmurs of an exit making its rounds on social media, Salah signing a new deal with the English giants came as a sigh of relief to the Reds supporters.
The Egyptian had a slow start to the 22/23 campaign and struggled to find his goalscoring touch early on. However, the African star currently has 14 goals in 21 appearances to his name, finding form just before the World Cup break.
Regarding his contract, Football Insider 247 reports that Salah’s deal is worth nearly £400,000-a-week, after he had initially wanted a £500, 000-a-week wage to stay at the club.
In total, Liverpool signed off a near £62 million deal with the Egyptian, making him Liverpool’s highest paid player in their history.
It is believed that the Fenway Sports Group stood their ground during the negotiation phases and reached a compromise with the player’s representatives.
