After being dropped from Cameroon’s World Cup squad ahead of their thrilling 3-3 draw against Serbia, the Cameroon Football Federation detailed Andre Onana’s suspension and mentioned that they are committed to creating a ‘peaceful atmosphere’ within the national team.

Reports in the media suggest that Onana and head coach Rigobert Song had a dispute while in camp, with the mentor said to have been unhappy with the goalkeeper’s style of play.

The Daily Mail described their fallout as a ’shouting match’, as the 26-year-old was subsequently axed from the Indomitable Lions team in the Middle East.

Now though, the Cameroon Football Federation released a statement in which they detailed Ohana’s suspension and in the process, showcased their support of Song.

“The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr.Rigobert Song Bahang’s decision, head coach of the indomitable Lions, the player Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons,” FECAFOOT said in a statement.

“The Cameroon Football Federation reiterates its full support to the head coach and his entire staff as they implement the Federation’s policy aimed at preserving discipline, solidarity, complementarity and cohesion within the national team.

“FECAFOOT further reaffirms it’s commitment to create a peaceful atmosphere for the team and to provide them with adequate facilities for an outstanding performance.”
