Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are set to battle it out in the transfer window for the services of Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Dutch-born Amrabat, 26, is currently on the books of Serie A side Fiorentina. He has also represented Utrecht, Feyenoord, Club Brugge and Hellas Verona in his senior club career.

The player has become highly sought-after following an outstanding 2022 World Cup, where he was a major driving force in Morocco reaching the semifinals.

The Atlas Lions therefore became the first African team to qualify for the final four of the senior men’s global tournament.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool and Spurs are the clubs leading the way in trying to sign Amrabat when the transfer window opens next month, while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and an unnamed German club are also in the frame.

The player’s contract at Fiorentina runs out in June 2024, making this the perfect opportunity for the Florence club to cash in – unless they can convince the Moroccan to sign an extension and then potentially sell him for an even higher price at the end of the season.
