Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag recently discussed the prospect of recalling Amad Diallo from his loan spell at Sunderland, with the Ivorian making a name for himself in the English Championship.

In furthering his development, the English giants sent the 20-year-old attacker out on loan for the 2022/23 season and has subsequently become a fan favourite among the Sunderland fanbase.

Scoring seven goals in his last 11 games, Diallo remains an option for Ten Hag should he opt to recall the skilful star. However, the Dutchman downplayed the opportunity with the idea of letting Diallo continue his progression with Sunderland.

“We consider everything as long as it’s strengthening the squad,” Ten Hag said as per The Metro.

“But at the same time, I have a little bit of a reservation for that because I don’t want to stop the process. He’s [making] really good progress there, so I’m happy with that.

“I know also, they need experience, young players. When we decide to come back, he has to be a player who can be starting XI, compete for starting XI [at a] minimum, for a lot of games to come in and have an impact.”
