Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates failed to record victories in the latest set of DStv Premiership fixtures, while the likes of Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows earned vital points.

Beginning at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Marumo Gallants suffered a 1-0 home loss to Maritzburg United in their latest DStv Premiership encounter.

Despite bossing the possession and passing statistics, it was the Team of Choice who profited from a Tshepo Gumede own goal in claiming maximum points on the road. In what was a bottom of the table clash, the defeat saw Gallants drop into last place, while Maritzburg jumped into the relegation play-off spot.

In what was one of the shock results on the day, Golden Arrows managed to overcome a strong SuperSport United outfit in a 2-1 win at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Arrows were up for the task at hand and managed to head into the half-time break with a comfortable 2-0 advantage. Thabang Sibanyoni pulled one back for the visitors in the 85th, however, Arrows held on to secure three vital points.

Over in the Mother City, Cape Town Spurs stunned Orlando Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium as Eric Tinkler’s side claimed a 2-1 win over Jose Riveiro’s side. Pirates took the lead in the 20th minute, as Deon Kavendji got his name on the scoreboard for the travelling outfit.

In showing great character, strikers from Juan Londono and Darwin Gonzales saw the Western Cape side inflict Bucs third loss on the trot.

As the final encounter of the day, a spirited Sekhukhune United recorded a morale boosting 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.

Babina Noko looked energetic from the get go and held onto the ball for large parts of the match. Following an error inside the Chiefs half, Mncube found himself staring Khune down in a one-on-one duel and subsequently slotted the ball into the back of the net.

The victory saw Sekhukhune jump into 10th place on the log while Amakhosi failed to make it three wins from three in the DStv Premiership.
