Chad have been disqualified from the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after one of their players failed an age test.

DR Congo had already withdrawn from the five-team regional tournament earlier this week in the wake of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) screening, which found 25 of their 40 players to be overage.

Tournament hosts Cameroon were forced to send 32 players home last week due to failed MRI tests and they had to scramble to find replacements before the AFCON qualifiers got underway on Thursday.

The Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFFAC) confirmed that Chad had been eliminated for failing an age test during the tournament.

That leaves just three teams to battle it out for the two available spots at the AFCON finals in Algeria during the month of April, with Congo and Central African Republic the other participants.

It also means that just three of the six fixtures can be completed and Congo will get their qualifying campaign underway against Cameroon on Sunday.
