Maritzburg United made it two wins on the spin in the DStv Premiership on Sunday, while 10-man Swallows claimed a point in their clash with TS Galaxy.

The Team of Choice weathered an early storm from Thwihli Thwahla to emerge 3-0 victors in their KZN derby clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

Amadou Soukouna (34′, 45′) bagged a first-half brace to put Fadlu Davids’ side in command at the break and Friday Samu (90+2′) wrapped up the win at the death.

A second consecutive victory for Maritzburg (15th) took them three points clear of rock-bottom Marumo Gallants to go level with the Dube Birds and Stellenbosch.

Earlier in the day, Swallows picked up a vital point after they held TS Galaxy to a 0-0 draw at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Ernst Middendorp’s team had to play the majority of the second half with just 10 men following the dismissal of Gregory Damons on 48 minutes but they held on to go two games unbeaten to remain just ahead of the German’s former employers in 14th place.

The Rockets (11th) recorded their third goalless stalemate in a row and are still undefeated since the league campaign resumed on December 30.

Sunday’s results:

Swallows 0-0 TS Galaxy

Maritzburg United 3-0 Royal AM
