Manchester United legend Gary Neville feels that Egyptian captain Mohamed Salah is ‘not what he was in previous seasons.’
The retired right-back believes that the world class winger’s displays have tailed off a little despite having scored 17 goals and provided six assists from 28 matches for Liverpool FC this term.
Neville did note that Senegal international Sadio Mane’s departure from Liverpool to German champions Bayern Munich June last year and the club’s new attackers being raw have contributed to that.
“Salah’s not what he was in previous seasons, Mane’s gone and the others are a little rugged and raw around the edges,” said Neville on HITC.
“There are things that you could argue are going against Jurgen Klopp, there’s no doubt.”
Liverpool have lost their last two matches in the Premier League and they are out of the race for the championship having blown hot and cold this season.
Despite the Reds’ struggles, Salah is the joint-top scorer in this season’s UEFA Champions League having scored seven goals from six matches.
The 30-year-old and his Liverpool teammates are scheduled to take on Chelsea FC in a titanic Premier League clash on Saturday at Anfield.
