A dominant Mamelodi Sundowns outfit made it 15 wins out of 15 games in the DStv Premiership this weekend, as Orlando Pirates struggled to overcome the reigning league champions at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilians made their way to the Orlando Stadium this weekend where they faced an in-form Buccaneers outfit. The visitors took the lead in the 6th minute with Cassius Mailula getting his name on the scoresheet. The Soweto club saw most of the ball throughout the encounter as Downs uncharacteristically looked off the boil after taking the lead. Nonetheless, Downs held on to secure an incredible 15th straight win in the league.

On Friday, Swallows recorded a 1-0 home victory against Richards Bay at the Dobsonville Stadium. The Natal Rich Boyz dominated the ball possession count but failed to make the most of their attacking moves during the match.

The Dube Birds however, took the lead late on in the tie, as Kagiso Malinga got his name on the scoreboard in the 81st minute. Elsewhere, Maritzburg United and AmaZulu recorded a 1-1 draw at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday evening. After a run of three consecutive stalemates, Usuthu sit in 6th spot while the Team of Choice drop into the relegation play-off spot.

Royal AM moved into 9th place on the DStv Premiership log this weekend, following their 2-1 win over Golden Arrows at the Princes Magogo Stadium on Saturday Afternoon. After two defeats in succession, Arrows now occupy 13th spot with 20 games under their belt.

Elsewhere, SuperSport United inflicted Cape Town City’s second defeat in a row, following their 2-0 win over the Mother City outfit at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium. As a result, Gavin Hunt and company put an end to their two-match winless streak as they remained in second spot on the table.

In conclusion, Marumo Gallants overcame a resurgent Sekhukhune United outfit on Saturday night, following a 2-0 win at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. While they remained bottom of the log, Gallants picked up their first league win in eight games, while Babina Noko suffered their second defeat on the spin.
