It’s been reported that Chelsea ‘explored’ the possibility of signing Moroccan star Sofyan Amrabat on deadline day, as the Blues underwent a busy January transfer window.

All eyes were on Chelsea during the month of January as they completed the signings of high profile players such as Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez.

Regarding Fernandez, Chelsea smashed the British transfer record in signing the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, as they forked out some £107 million for the former Benfica star.

Now though, it’s said that Chelsea had eyes for another World Cup star, with transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that the club explored the possibility of signing Amrabat on-loan.

“Chelsea explored Sofyan Amrabat as Deadline Day option before Enzo deal sealed,” Fabrizio tweeted.

“Direct contacts took place… but Fiorentina were never open to let him leave on loan.

“Many top clubs will keep following the Moroccan midfielder for the future.”
