Mozambique International Stanely Ratifo has said that he doesn’t know why Kaizer Chiefs opted against signing him after undergoing a trial at Naturena in December 2022.
At the time, Amakhosi were looking at striker options ahead of the 2022/23 campaign’s restart, following the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Ratifo plies his trade with 1.CfR Pforzheim in Germany’s fifth division and does not have experience in top flight football.
However, Chiefs opted to sign Christian Saile Basomboli instead, who was on trial alongside Ratifo. Reflecting on the trial period, Ratifo spoke highly of the club and remains open to the idea of playing for the Glamour Boys.
“The experience at Chiefs was very nice as they have a lot of good players with quality,” Ratifo told Kick Off.
“The tempo in the training sessions was very intense while the structure of the club was amazing. I still imagine myself playing in South Africa because I have African blood and I feel good in Africa.
“I don’t know why the transfer didn’t happen. This is not my decision. I was ready to join this amazing club, but we respect the decision of the club and I wish them the best.
“If Chiefs want me to come it will be a pleasure to join this club.”
