Al Ahly have confirmed that Amr El Solia will miss their CAF Champions League opener against Al Hilal on Saturday with a calf injury.
The 32-year-old midfielder featured for Red Eagles at the Club World Cup in Morocco but was forced to sit out the encounter with Flamengo last weekend after injuring his calf.
El Solia has made 12 appearances for Marcel Koller’s side in the Egyptian Premier League this season, contributing three goals and two assists to help them to the top of the table.
However, the club’s doctor, Ahmed Abu-Abla stated that the Egypt international won’t recover in time for the trip to Sudan.
“El Solia is continuing his rehabilitation program from his calf injury and won’t be available for Al Hilal game,” Abu-Abla was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
The 10-time African champions didn’t play on matchday 1 due to their participation at the Club World Cup and are scheduled to face Coton Sport on March 4.
