TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune United claimed impressive wins over AmaZulu and Richards Bay respectively to headline Saturday’s DStv Premiership action.
The top performance of Saturday came from Galaxy, who put in a thoroughly competent and professional showing to outclass AmaZulu 2-1 in a night match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Rockets’ goals were both scored by striker Junior Traore, with the result taking them up to seventh place on the log, while Usuthu dropped to ninth after a fourth successive league game without a victory.
Earlier in the evening, Sekhukhune United snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 home win over Richards Bay (who have now gone four league matches without a win) at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Babina Noko’s goals were scored by Pogiso Mahlangu and Chibuike Ohizu early in the second half, with the Natal Rich Boyz unable to come up with a reply.
The afternoon match saw Royal AM and SuperSport United play to a 1-1 draw in miserable conditions at Chatsworth Stadium.
Matsatsantsa claimed the lead midway through the first half via Bradley Grobler, but Thwihli Thwahla struck back through Kabelo Mahlasela just over 10 minutes later.
The weekend’s action got underway on Friday night in Soweto, where Orlando Pirates survived a nervy ending to their 2-1 home win over Maritzburg United courtesy of goals from Monnapule Saleng and Terrence Dzvukamanja.
The DStv Premiership will continue on Sunday 19 February with two further matches to close out the weekend, with Kaizer Chiefs hosting Golden Arrows and Swallows FC visiting Cape Town City.
