Cassius Mailula of Mamelodi Sundowns

Now scoring on the continental stage, Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Cassius Mailula hopes to extend his rich vein of form, as the Brazilians reach the business end of their 2022/23 campaign.
Mailula is currently one of the most talked about players in South African football at the moment, as coach Rulani Mokwena continues to put faith in the 21-year-old attacker.
The diminutive forced scored a brace during Downs’ 3-1 win over Coton Sport in the CAF Champions League last week, taking his tally to six goals in the popular competition. In all, Mailula currently has 12 goals in 17 games in all competitions.
Reflecting on this goal scoring steak, Mailula thanked Mokwena for the opportunity while mentioning that he is focused on the task in front of him.
“The guys came through and I want to thank the coach for the opportunity and support he has given me,” Mailula told the media, as per GOAL.com.
“I am happy that I scored; usually I don’t convert the chances that I get but I am happy with the two goals.
“Overall the team was good with the ball and from here we just need to focus on the net game.
“It’s not about the target but it is about scoring in each and every game for the team.”
