Kaizer Chiefs grabbed the Soweto Derby bragging rights when they edged out Orlando Pirates in an encounter which headlined DStv Premiership action.

Amakhosi completed a league double over the Buccaneers as an Olisa Ndah own-goal earned Amakhosi a 1-0 win in the Soweto Derby encounter in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Chiefs remained fifth on the league standings – level on points with third-placed Pirates and they are five points behind SuperSport United who were in action on Friday.

Matsatsantsa claimed a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Maritzburg United in Pretoria courtesy of goals from Kegan Johannes and Bradley Grobler who netted his 100th goal in the PSL.

The action continued on Saturday as Stellenbosch FC made it three wins in a row in the league when they edged out Richards Bay 2-1 thanks to a Iqraam Rayners brace in Durban.

In Polokwane, Thando Nodada’s stunning long-range goal earned Cape Town City a 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United who saw their two-match winning run across all competitions come to an end.

While Bonginkosi Ntuli grabbed a late equalising goal to ensure that AmaZulu FC held Royal AM to a 1-1 draw as the bulky marksman cancelled out Ruzaigh Gamildien’s opening goal in Durban.

Lastly, Kagiso Malinga’s brace propelled Swallows FC to a 2-1 win over Chippa United in Gqeberha where Thabiso Lebitso scored what proved to be the Chilli Boys’ consolation goal.
