Accomplished South African coach Pitso Mosimane has backed his compatriot Gavin Hunt to win next season’s CAF Champions League title.
Hunt is currently in charge of SuperSport United who are embroiled with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for the runners-up spot in the DStv Premiership.
The two top teams in the DStv Premiership will qualify for next season’s Champions League and log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns look destined to clinch the championship.
Mosimane was responding to Hunt’s tweet in which the Cape Town-born tactician was congratulating the Al Ahli head coach for being named Saudi First Division Coach of the Month for February 2023.
“Thanks Gavin Hunt, off season I will host you for lunch and plan for Caf Champions League.” Mosimane wrote on his official Twitter page on Tuesday night.
“I know you can win it, why not? You have been in this tournament many years and you understand it well. Just a courtesy lunch and a catch up meeting also.”
Mosimane is one of the most decorated coaches in African football having won the CAF Champions League title three times and three CAF Super Cups.
On the other hand, Hunt is among the most successful coaches in South African football having won four DStv Premiership trophies, but he is yet to win a continent title.
